You should never have to change your Bios unless you want to fit a processor or RAM that is newer than it was made for.

Dave's correct, usually its best left well enough alone.

But if you feel a need to update/reinstall just visit the manufacturers website and do it from there. It really is quite easy as long as you follow the onscreen instructions.

Whats the problem you're having?

Yes it is better to leave it as it is. Though there are options to update the BIOS but I have never done that because I might end up messing it.

Knight

What reasons did your vendor give you for updating the BIOS?
Did he explain the pitfalls, because if he didn't I will.
If you update the BIOS and make a hash of it your pc will never boot again and that's a fact.
This can be dangerous ground mate make no mistake.
How old is the machine?

Just to say if you flash the BIOS incorrectly you will be putting your Motherboard in the bin ! and only download BIOS from the Motherboards Manufactures web site.

Generally all the motherboard manuals have some space alloted to BIOS updates. But I have never found one who has done that. It's risky for an average user like me.

If you really want to do that , firstly check with the company your motherboard is of and the exact model and check for any BIOS updates available , normally the company gives you exact details that flashing the bios will be revertible or not . Best solution don't try unless you want to blow up your motherboard .

Hi Sid.

Sorry to chastise here but can you be a bit more careful in how you give your advice. Whilst I agree with the point you're trying to get across a lot of people who come on here are not as fluent in the language that is p.c as yourself.

In no way is flashing the bios incorrectly going to "blow up" a motherboard. People not experienced will start seeing visions of a mobo going nova with responses such as the one you've put.

Bit more care and attention please. Thanks. :)
