Default BIOS Updates - MSI MS-7041 Motherboard

I have been recently told to update my BIOS and searches on Google reveal that my motherboard doesn't exist by the manufacturer.

My motherboard is an MS-7041 from MSI but the MSI website doesn't feature the motherboard in the archives or new products. The computer was made by Ei Systems but their website doesnt exist. Would it be safe to use the Medion BIOS update I have found because it is the same motherboard? I'm fairly sure the parts are not Ei Systems specific and the branding means it's a case bundled with stuff but I'm a bit weary of using a BIOS update that's not for my specific PC.

If it goes wrong your mobo is dead, so personally I would want to be 100% sure I am using the correct BIOS. Why are you updating anyway?

Default BIOS Updates - MSI MS-7041 Motherboard

A computer shop told me to do so, RAM issues I have in another thread. The guy said that I should update to fix the problem I just can't find my exact motherboard and system. The closest is the Medion one posted by Emrys88.

BIOS updates are pretty much only so you can fit newer RAM/CPU then when your mobo was made.

Many are unsupported, especially mobos fitted in branded PCs.

Personally I would ask why a BIOS update will fix your issue, if the RAM is bad/too new I would swap that over a BIOS update in this case.

Oky doky, thanks. I'll tell him the BIOS update didn't work and see what he says. Cheers Dave =)
