i bought two sticks of 1gb ddr2 ram 5300, off ebay a few months back now and only one seems to work, if i have them both in along with my orignal two 512mb sticks then it only reads as 2.5gb when looking in properties. if i switch them around, muddle them uop abit i cant get anymore only less ram. now theres one stick i currently have violently left on my shelf (if you can violently place something down) as it oftern gives me blue screen, its ddr2 ram 1gb 5300 exactly the same as the other one but this one causes the ohrrid blueee. can my computer only take a certain amount, i went to critical and did a scan and they said i can have 4gb easy!

p.s i know this may stress you all out but if you can keep answers as basic as possible or explain technical terms because im easily thrown by computer lingo, but im learning

If each stick works on it's own it's unlikely they are faulty.

It is possible your motherboard doesn't support all 4.

Can you list makes, models and sizes of all 4 please, along with your motherboard make and model.

Fit them in different configurations until you find the faulty stick.

We need to confirm they are not faulty before looking in other areas.

just put in the expected faulty stick and within minutes blue screen appears saying memory fault, i tried it again and it said IRQ..... i didnt have time to write it down sorry, i out the expected faulty stick in slot 2 with the working 1gb in slot 1... leaving my two 512's which came with the computer, out. now i have my working 1gb in sloth 2 and then the two 512 in 2 and 3 and all is good but i know if i put the other 1gb stick in now not only will it give me a blue screen it will also show up as 2.5gb, odd very odd

It looks like a faulty stick, try the dodgy one on it's own in slot 1,if it faults try the good one same slot.

Your making this very hard to understand.

We are trying to establish if one or both or neither of the 1GB sticks work.

Swap them round until you can single out a faulty stick.

im sorry i thought i made that clear....

the 1gb stick that i dont have IN now creates blue screen, so im saying that i have a 1gb and two 512 IN at the moment and its all fine if i put that other 1gb stick in then i get a blue screen, but to be ultimately sure im going to put it in on its own, sorry for prolonging this, slow death huh?
