Default Boot Up Problems

I'm new to the forum so hello everyone

I didn't know were to post this problem because it seems a little strange so i just posted it on CPU Motherboard section. I built my computer a couple of months ago now because i decided it would be cheaper and because i have a general interest in computers. Not so long back i started having problems with it booting up, for some reason it will boot up but it kept reseting like 3 times then it would go into back up bios ?? I then checked if i had the right settings in the bios but no out of blue it did it again. It seems to be a random occurrence sometimes it would boot up fine then at the end of the week it would just start playing up again. I think it's something to do with the PSU because when it's left off for a long time it usually has trouble booting up, well... ( that's when it usually happens).

I have tried everything up to changing the settings in the bios to a memory test and stablebility test and it just doesn't shed any light on the problem.

System specs:

AMD 64 x2 6000+
4GB Patriot Memory 6400
Jetway Mobo; Cross Fire ATI 480x Chipset
ATI 1950pro Graphics Card
Xlicence 420 Watt PSU
x2 320GB Seagate Hard drives
Cool master Case

I would be graceful for any information because quite frankly I've run out of ideas.

Best Regards, Tom.

Have you checked CPU temperature ? .... also try disconnecting your 2nd HDD and any other drives or USB attached devices ..... see if you can narrow it down a bit.

Default Boot Up Problems

Well I disconnected the seconded hard drive and it seems to have fixed the problem, boots up much smoothly now.

Not sure what to do with the seconded hard drive thought, does this mean the hard drive is faulty? or is it a power issue?

Least I have kind of narrowed it down.

It sounds like your original theory was right .... i.e. a faulty PSU.

Might be worth getting it exchanged if still under warranty, plus up it to a 550 or 600w unit..
