Hello,
I'm stuck! I'm looking to build a home server and I'm not sure which motherboard to go for. I want a board with an intel 775 chipset, 6 or more Sata, 2 Pata, onboard graphics & ideally dual gigabit lan. Thanks for any suggestions. |

it would be best to find a nice cheap board with most of your requirments and add the rest with add in cards.

Blimey... You either going to have to spend a lot of money or compromise somewhere...

For starters, not a lot og mobo manufacturers offer 2 Pata ports with a decent amount of Sata parts. The only one I came accross was my old Asus P5N-E which had 2 Pata but only 4 Sata. If you really need all this stuff, your best bet is to convert some of your PATA devices into SATA ones and stick 2 GigEthernet cards in the PCI-E slots. That's probably going to work out cheaper then going for 6+ SATA ports and 2 PATA ones in one board. Cheers: Chris My System: Willy Wonka's Polygon Factory

Here you go... The Asus P5N-E is not being sold anymore and the only LGA775 socket mobo I could find on eBuyer with 2 PATA ports is the MSI P7n Diamond. Has also got 6 SATA ports but only 1 GigE... at a tune of £168.58
