Default Can i overclock my PC? if i can, to what extent?

PC Specification

PSU: Silent 600W Switching Power supply

MoBo: Asus P5Q P45 Chipset

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9450 2.66GZ / Arctic Cooling freezer 7 Pro

Ram: Corsair GDDR2 2GB

Grpahics Card: NVidia 9800GT 512MB

All in a nice icute case (the one with the giant fan at the front)

Im as green as grass here so please tell me if u need any more info.

Im just intrested if i can do it with what i have here. TF2 is abit slow atm and i thought maybe lower the res and O/C the CPU and see if i get an improvment.

If i can do it, to what levels? i dont want it running on the limits, just a little boost to what it can do.

Any advice would be helpful, cheers.

Just to let you know the Ram'll be DDR2, not GDDR2 - that's just graphics cards.

I'm sure you can - especially with an AM cooler.

How far will depend, just step up gradually and see how far you can get with the system remaining stable.

As a reference to what you might be able to get I OC'd my Q6600 recently on a stock HSF.

From 2.4GHz > 3.40GHz

It's at 3.15 now though, but 3.40 was it's highest stable clock.

So I reckon starting from factory setting of 2.66, you could easily get 3.5GHz, more quite probably, just go as far as you're comfortable or until it crashes.

If it crashes just knock it back down to the last stable clock.

Might want to replace that PSU before it blows up.
