Default Can I use Intel Pentium 4, on my motherboard?

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 3200+, with an CPU named AMD Sempron Processor 3200+.

I was wandering, if I could put in an Intel Pentium 4 processor, and will it be better?

Some of the games I am playing, are lagging and that stuff, but on the manuals, it says that Pentium 4 are recommened.

You can only fit AMD processors of the same socket type, and that's if the motherboard supports the speeds.

Older games only quoted pentium 4's on their boxes because they were the main selling cpu at the time, so were used as the benchmark on a lot of boxes, be it games or applications.

The truth was and is that the p4 is a lousy gaming cpu.

No, you can't use an Intel cpu on your motherboard as it has an AMD socket.

Your best bet would be to post the make and model of your motherboard and we can see what cpu's (AMD) it can support.

The Sempron is a kind of sawn off Athlon64 CPU and isn't really much good for gaming, you may find that simply replacing it with an Athlon64 will help. As mentioned your mobo make/model will dictate how large you will be able to go.
The other thing, for gaming, of course, is your Graphics Card. If the system has on board graphics, this also is not much good for gaming.

If you want better gaming performance it is probably better just to get a new PC. You can get a new dual core PC with decent graphics and OS for less than £500.
