I have a dell dimension 8100 p4 , 1.5ghz, i changed the ram but now my computer wont start, has this got to do with the ram i installed or has the motherboard gone completely, i do not want to buy another power supply if this is not the problem

what should i do?

Did you put the old RAM back and see if it would boot?

Put it back as it was and see if it works, then it is the new RAM which probably is the wrong speed/type.

just did that i dont think it matters what slots the ram is in, doesnt turn on

when i put power cable into computer i hear a little spark, does it mean anything? so what do i do now

That is just it sparking when it makes a connection I would say, are you sure the RAM is slotted in fully because if not it will not boot

yeah im pretty sure its clicked it, i dont see a spark i hear a little fizz, when i change the ram there is no way that the power supply or motherboard can be spoilt in any way? ill re-try the ram now and let you know

Well you may have shorted your motherboard if you didn't destatic yourself

i got 2 x 64mb no ecc nec ram , im sure this comes with the dell dimension 8100, can anyone double check with me?
