Hi everyone, names Dan, It's been a while since I've built a computer, years in fact, but I'm going to start now.
I will start with an AMd quad core processor in the machine. However, I have heard that there will be a new generation of amd quad core processors that will require their own motherboard support. The question - What's the cheapest motherboard that will fit a standard AMD quad core processor, that also supports these new processors so that the system is more future proof? Thanks for any help I receive, Dan.:alien: |

You can't future-proof.
MA770-UD3 and 790X-UD4P both take AM3+ Phenom IIs.

If AMD release a new generation of CPU's, that "require their own motherboard" the reason is because it's a different socket.
It'd be like buying a motherboard now and fitting your "triangular" CPU you have at the moment, and then trying to fit a "circular" CPU in when AMD release them. It clearly won't work, different socket shape, different number of pins.. etc.
