Home computer surfing web, etc. no gaming.

right now won't start at all. fan on cpu runs and cpu gets warm, HD runs, but doesn't cycle, no beeps from teh board, memory removed, memory in, starting it, etc. No power to keyboard, etc.

Sparkle Power SPI270LE 270 Watts FLEX ATX (20/24-Pin) RoHS Power Supply added vs stock 150w unit

Anyway replaced Powersupply thinking issue, no change, still won't start. I'm thinking motherboard from my reading here.

Looking to keep it cheap, this isn't a high end piece by any means.

As noted this is a bargain fix. Not even sure if this is the issue or not yet. I know it will cost me over 100 bucks at the repair shop just to get in the door. With a motherboard i'll be at 100 and that will be it. I'll just buy a new computer for 300-400 to replace and go from there.

The advantage of sticking with the same motherboard is that you don't need to re-install your Microsoft operating system from scratch. I doubt whether HP provided you with enough installation software to bring your system back to life with anything else.

If yours is an Asus M2NC51-AR they're still available at around $90.
