I would be inclined to agree with you, but he has replced the motherboard as well .... so it's very unlikely that 3 batteries all arrived DOA.

Had a chat with s friend of mine and told him about your problem,
he asked me to ask you two questions,
1 Do you pull the power cord out at night?
2 Is the ram you have compatable with your m/b and/or have you tried reseating the ram
you ok spot?

Again more replies its good!! keep em comming if you can but looks like the poltergeist suggestion is the best one!

Well ive followed the instructions in the manual about resetting the CMOS, and that didnt help, so then i tried putting the jumper in a whole range of positions and even booting with no jumper and still no change.

the power cord is pulled out yes because i cant use the thing. with the RAM the company that i bought it off said it was compatible but i havnt tried re-seating the ram, maybe i'll try that. Anymore ideas?!

cmos jumper should cover 1and 2 pins not 2and 3

Hey philthomas,

I just had a check and the ram is...
2048Mb DDR2 667Mhz (pc5400) 240-pin Memory For LGA775 and AM2. I have two of these in the box.

And the power supply came with the box, its an...
EZ Cool ATX-500 JSP 500W Switching Mode power supply.

Heres the link for the RAM but theres not much else on the website, http://www.rlsupplies.co.uk/products....asp?id=234570

Everything looks ok from that.

Try removing one stick of Ram and running with just one .... if no improvement, swap them around, still keeping to one ...... or better still if you have access to a spare stick of the right type, try that instead.
