Default Computer power up issue - Poss CMOS problem

First of all, I wanna say hi to everyone since this is my first post on the site. Recently I just finished my first desktop build. I've fixed a couple in the past but this problem is new to me. Anyways, problem is this:

Last night, being half awake, i mistakenly cleared the CMOS using the jumper while the power supply was still connected. Every since I did that, I can't get the computer to boot correctly. It starts and then instantly shuts down. I've tried unplugging the power and removing the CMOS battery to let it reset but its still doing it. I have bought all items brand new and it powered up fine before I did this. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Hi Camnz,

How long did you leave the battery out and the power disconnected? It takes about 5 -10 minutes for the CMOS Caps to disapate.

Take the CMOS battery out again and disconnect the power cord.

While you wait for the caps to disapate -

Try this, disconnect the power to the hard drive, cd/dvd, remove any extra add on cards, reseat the memory.

Power it up, do you get the normal POST compelete beep? More than one beep? Did you get the Time/Date error and to press the appropiate keypress to go in to the BIOS setup?

If not then you need to get an RMA from the manufacture for a repair/replacement something has shorted out on the MB.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but that seems to be your options.

HTH...
