Hi guys i just bought a new toshiba laptop with a core 2 duo p8400 (2.26ghz), when i ran cpuz i was surprised to see that the core speed was lower than expected (expected 2.26ghz), it said: C2D p8400 @2.26ghz but for core speed it only says 1595mhz

so i installed everest home and then i got surprised again, it said the cpu is:
intel pentium III xeon, 2266 mhz (9x252)

now i'm confused, cpuz always gives me the right core speed for my pc but shouldn't it be around 2260 and not 1595?

and my cpu isn't a intel pentium III xeon, 2266 mhz (9x252) is it?

i am confused, have i got what i paid for?

I'm not sure what there is not to get. Your CPU underclocks when not in use.

to put it really simply. when your laptop isnt working all that hard, or running on battery, it lowers the speed of your cpu, saving power. if you plug your laptop in, it often overrides back to full speed, or itll do it by itself when its working hard. and its kinda odd that its coming up with a xeon chip, obvs the software is misinterpenting the cpu info.
