Hey all, i just bought a new quiet and more efficient heatsink for my 6400+ x2 amd, but as i've taken the old heatsink out, the cpu came with it and won't budge!

i've tried being gently forceful but it's like it's almost welded on!

not done changing the heatsink before [though i fitted the orignal heatsink and cpu in the first place when i built the machine] \

what do i do? can i do? should i do?

help x good = thanks a lot!

You need something very thin to prise it apart, like a razor blade.

Never met that problem but heard of it! Maplin sell a solvent that might help remove the old thermal paste, which you were supposed to use instead of superglue!

The solvent is acetone BTW! Or borrow a razor as Dave suggested!

razor blade + hammer = result.

then i accidentally bent two pins at the edge putting the processor in =o / but managed to bend them back [!] and so far, so good!
