I have the task of getting a pc to run Call of Duty 4 but it has an ECS P4M800Pro motherboard with Via chipsets. I have a ATi 9800 Pro agp graphics card that would play the game but I cant get the card to work in the system. Loading pages ( boot page and Windows load page ) are all distorted then normal screens are OK. But game loads and then after a few minutes playing freezes the pc.
I have read that via chipsets and ati graphics do not work together, is this true. Or if they have a problem has anyone got a fix ? thanks for any help or advise |

Get a new computer mate. Jump ship now. AGP really isn't worth the money you're throwing at it.
Not heard anything about the incompatibility but with an AGP card, you'd struggle to run CoD4 at any level of detail that does the game justice. Go read Carbons guide about budget systems and see if it's viable to go get one. You'll be happy with a new PC and it's going to charge through CoD 4 rather than trundle through it. |

Yeah, I'd walk you through it but really there's no reason to waste your time unless buying a new system is totally out. Parts are amazingly cheap now, probably about as cheap as they're going to get (DDR2 is already getting more expensive) and even if you get that card working it's not going to perform as well as you think it will.
