| I revcently upgraded to a dual core 4200+ athlon cpu, Along with 1mb 667 MHZ ram. It hasnt been as fast as i would like, BTW im running the packard bell boston asus motherboard. So i went into my bios. Firstly it was locked and i couldnt scroll down to edit the processor and memory info. (the down arrow stoped and wouldnt go down, the accesable options were in blue writing, the motherboard etc were in light grey) Anyway it said the speed was 533mhz, so i was thinking i had 512mb of ram that came with the pc that i left in when upgrading. Does ram speed stay low because i still have this ram installed? Should i take it out? also how can i edit the processor and ram settings? they seem locked or something! Thanks,. |

| The Ram will run at the speed of the slowest stick so taking it out will increase ram speed but obviously you lose some ram.

Up to you which you prefer. If 1GB is enough for you then use the 1 stick of faster stuff. If access to the BIOS is locked you are pretty much out of luck.Sometimes there are ways around this but its not easy. Google unlocking "PC name and type here" BIOS and see if anyone has discovered a way to do it. My System: Krlll
