this motherboard does not support the new 1333fsb processors out of the box.
now iv got everything put together.
all wires are in, just havnt turned on the power.
i think to support the new processors it need a bios revision,. number 608 according to the asus website.
the only thing i cnt do.
is update the bios.

what shud i do.
when i turn this computer on, i know im going to get an error regarding the processor iv got, (e6750)

im assuming i must have to flash the bios.
but can someone tel me the steps needed to do so.

iv got the files on a cd. the data file (revision 608) and the flash utility.
when i turn my new build on, do i wait for the pc to detect any hardware first, encountering any errors and then use the bios utility.
or do i use the disk to enter dos prompt as soon as i turn the comp on in order to update the bios first. and then detect hardware afterwards.

im confused lol

cheers for the help

Chances are as this is an motherboard upgrade Windows won't boot anyway, you will 99% need to do a Windows repair.

Try it, it won't damage anything, if it lets you in, flash the BIOS in XP, then fix any errors.

If it won't let you in, do a Windows repair, then flash the BIOS in XP.

To be honest just turn the thing on and see what happens.

The processor should just run at a lower FSB until you flash the BIOS.

aye this is a new build, its the one im helping my older brother with.
so everythings plugged in connected.
just turn it on?
let it detect hardware, install operating system.
and when everythings up and running, then flash the bios so it can run at 1333fsb?
will i have to configure the speeds in the bios afterwards so it matches that of the processor, or will it do it automatically for me?

this is too confusing lol, if i bugger it up thts a waste of money me nd me bro have been saving up for.

any chance of someone giving me a complete guide?
bearing in mind this is a new build.
all connected, just waiting to turn on.

the bios has to be flashed in order to use this processor.
iv got the files in order to flash it on a cd.

i just dont know what order to do it in.

start the bugger up, let it detect hardware, install the os, encounter the error tht i know is going to happenb regarding the processor. and then flash the bios.
or
start the bugger up, automatically use the dos boot disk with the files to flash the bios on.
flash it to the newer revision, and then let it detect hardware, then install os.

im still bloody confused on this flashing thing.
coz if i turn the comp on i know itl pull up an error regarding the processor.
as a mate of mine who got a different asus mobo but pretty similar also had the same problems. he just thought bugger it al buy a p35 model instead.

i really do need steps lol

If it was me?

I'd flash prior to the o.s install simply because you then lose any problems that could be associated with the o.s by flashing the bios afterwards. It's just you, the mobo, and the flash (ah ah).

That way you also lose any concerns you have over the recognition of the higher fsb. Also, you're unsure if the mobo will work as it stands with the cpu, personally I think it will, but thats the operative word: "think". Once you flash it you'll know its going to work, and then just continue the build knowing the motherboard is set for the cpu.

Yeah, keep it simple.

thnx alot for the reply alex.
so what your saying is:
turn the comp on, and automatically use the dos feature to update bios.
then let it detect hardware? and then go on to install.
what i was wondering is how can i use the cd with the flash utility on and the new data if the comp hasnt yet recognised the cd drive.

The PC will recognise the CD-Rom drive the moment you turn the PC on.
