Default Heatsink Problems?

you have probably already tried this but set the speed controller to 100% ...the bigger the heatsink the better it can transfer the heat hence lower temps.. i would recommend a bigger heatsink if you could sumets like this is grate with a 120mm fan on http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/modules/F...reme/stock.jpg

also are you using a program to monitor your temps? motherboard monitor 5 is a good one. its what i use :)
hehe thanks Pete, that looks a better heasink yep tried setting spd to 100% but no joy didnt make a difference at all, maybe just a bit of eye candy to boost there sales of this heatsink as its low budget one from coolmasters

I am using Everest to monitor teh temps and also the bios , seems to be ok but will give that monitor 5 a go

I dread the summer months coming lols room temp will raise = meltdown inside my pure computer hehe, i better invest in a new one anyways as this comp is 2+yrs now

regards

hehe yeah, that should help abit 2ghz is enough for dx9 games anyways, i was running sempron 1.8ghz before this and i dont see a great deal of difference from AMD Sempron 1.8GHz & Intel Northwood 2.4GHz so anything in between would do a good enough job.

Well , i tried installing the new heatsink again last nite, but same results as before, Idle temps was around the same, but soon as i ran a 3d game the temps went crazy and also if i set fan speed to lowest ,temps get very hot.

I then decided to test the fan, Being that my default heatsink & fan are diff shape, i couldnt put the fan & controller onto the default bracket and heatsink, so i just screwed it down to my other old cpu the 1.8Ghz and wapped up the rpm, and i was amazed to see the exact same problem

I found out now that its the fan that is at fault whatever has happened to it ,its not showing the right temps, must be sometiing to do with the connector head, loose wire maybe?

So i think i can just run that heatsink anyways without worrying about temps as its giving the wrong readings , still very off putting seeing temps as hi as 90c but they are false.

So you guys said was a faulty heatsink, then yup 100% right and ty for all tips & advice

I may just be doing with the default one and save some monies for new computer and maybe a few headaches hehe.

kind regards....
