Black one is AGP, smaller one looks like PCI-E x1. Do you have a "transitional" kind of motherboard, bought when PCI-E was first coming out?

I have a motherboard with one of those brown sockets as well. You see them quite frequently on motherboards that are 6-10 years old.

I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what it is for either... I wasn't around when those sort of sockets were used

this comps probably 4-5 years old, i just wanted to know if i would be able to fit a graphics card in, as i think i can make this a fairly modern pc with a bit of cash injected into it, i just wanted to know what port was what, and i think i will need low profile cards not sure

Probably not worth it if it's an AGP slot, but you could slap a 3850 in there. You'd be processor limited though.

There about the best for agp that you can get, as for being a low profile card im not sure, one thing though, the latest agp cards run at 8x before that, it was at 4x, you best check in your bios to see what speed your agp slot is as theres no point in getting the latest card that runs at 8x when your graphics slot will only run at 4x max
