Default Hey Guys Little Help

Hey This Is My First Ever Post Just Really Need Help With This One

Basically I Cant Decide Between The 3ghz core duo processor
Or
The 2.4ghz quad core

They are both of equal price when i see them.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131823/ProductComparison

this shows them
the only main difference is a 1033 bus speed on quad...and a 1333 bus speed on the duo
the stats say duo is better
but i thought quad core can run 4 times
where as duo can only run 2 times

please help guys

Many Thanks,
Brad.

Default Hey Guys Little Help

Quads are (obviously) better for multi-threaded applications as they have more physical computing power.

But there aren't,yet, that many m-t applications that can make use of quad. Heck, it took 3 years for games to make use of dual-core cpu's.

For future proofing I'd recommend the quad. For gaming, now, and for the next year or two I'd recommend the dual.

If you're using the pc for cad, then 2007 autocad can make use of a quad. Flight Simulator X (with patch) can make use of a quad. I'm pretty sure Photoshop can. But i'm unaware of any more mainstream (as in lots of users) applications that can at the minute.
