![]() Great timing - yesterday I just OC'd my CPU. Guess what? Q6600. So - some people have reached 3.6GHz, but that's a little overambitious. I reached 3.4GHz - but it wasn't quite stable enough, maybe if I fiddled some more, it would, but as it is I'm running brilliantly stable at 3.15GHz So, as your first step, just go into the BIOS, and change the FSB frequency to 270MHz The Q6600 default (and max) multiplier is 9.0 So 270 x 9 = 2.43GHz May not seem like much yet, but you gotta do little steps (I tried to jump 50MHz in one go, it BSOD'd on me) Then boot int Windows, and do whatever you do, just really stress out the CPU, get all cores into the 90's, and just keep fiddling with any multi-threaded taxing programs. If it's stable, ie. doesn't freeze, crash, or BSOD reboot, back into BIOS and change the FSB to 280MHz Go through that same proccess, then boot back into BIOS, up to 290MHZ And just keep going until it crashes (in which case you need to revert back to the last stable frequency, and stop there - or fill the gap in that 10MHz range, if you're that bothered) Or you're happy with the level you've reached. Hope that helps at all? If not, or you've any more questions, don't hesitate to ask
