Default I want to upgrade my computer, help needed please.

my computers slugish, I make website and require FTP , dreamweaver and image programs open all at once, i like msn and music on as well .. this results in a MEMORY FULL thing popup. It slow as well..

I have a Pentium 4 3.4ghz processor with 1gb of ram and nvidia geforce 6800.

I would like to be able to play good new games with out any problems and run multiple applications with out lag..

Please recommend if i need to upgrade my RAM, which graphic card is less than £100 for brillaint grpahics and last resort.. a new processor :| even thought ive had this one not long!

It should be printed on the board what it is. Is your memory DDR or DDR2 if you dont know it should be written on the memory already in your pc. I would go up to 2GB you can get by with a gig but you will see improvments all aroud if you go to 2

slide the panel of your computer case of. and your`ll see the motherboard and on it there should be a name e.g ASUS, GIGABYTE etc and then some letters n numbers, and that`s the make of your motherboad.
write them and the name of your motherboard down.

Download Everset http://www.thecomputerforums.co.uk/file9.html run it and it will give you the info on your ram etc.
I would say add another 1GG ram and upgrade your card to an 8600GT

More RAM is the cheapest way to gain performance, the processor is fine and as mentioned above an 8600GT is a great graphics card and will take some stress off your RAM and CPU loads. Also try and make sure you have the fastest RAM avaialbe for your pc this can make quite a difference.

The fastest RAM will be what your motherboard supports. Go to Crucial's website and use their on line scanner tool to find out :

When you say you need 4gb RAM, I take it that you are running a 64bit Operating System ..... if not, you will be wasting your money with anything over 3gb.
