i read couple of articles the i7 will win but whats your views on it

i7 already won. Benchmarks and real world gaming have shown that the phenom 2permorms worse in games, but a little better in encoding. it costs as much as an intel q9400 and still gets beaten. its not such a good processor for 300$ get core i7. the only good thing is that you dont need a new motherboard.

i read in Maximum PC that AMD is coming out with a 6 core and a 12 core CPU soon. I'll try and find an article about it in a minute.

intel is coming out with an 8 core and 12 core as well, but there will always be new technology. For example, 4 years ago it was all about the clock speed. 2.4 then 3.2. everyone is debating who would get to 5 ghz first. then dual cores came out. so now i think some new technology will come out. no one knew to put more cores. i guess we will see

Both are useless for gaming, so the i7 wins in pure performance for the workstation crowd.

your very negative. the 300$ i7 outperforms the qx9700 in every game. where is it not good for gaming?

even in game that can utilize quad cores? like lonely planet and supreme commander.
