Default intel 6600 quad core

Thermal paste goes between the CPU and fan to help conduct heat.

It does come with generic (junk) thermal paste.

Get AS5. £6 or thereabouts.

Thermal paste basically glue's the top of the cpu to the bottom of the hsf. And transfers the heat from the cpu to the hsf for dissipation.

Yes oc'ing will void it's warranty (vendor dependent-you're ok with Scan I believe) and yes they can tell.

But don't worry about breaking the cpu. It has a thermal shutdown threshhold built in to prevent permanent damage from overvolting/temps.

Check with Scan, I'm not positive.

It's not messy to remove at all, only takes a minute or so.

Just use a kitchen towel corner, or a cotton bud. Even Methlyated spirits, but that makes it messier in my experience.

Paste: Arctic Silver 5.

HSF: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro or Tuniq Tower. My choice would be the AC7.

AC7 is a squeeze but it does fit. It's very fiddly though with all that copper.

The heatsinks surrounding the cpu socket don't leave much room for fingers when fitting the hsf.
