Its all about price Vs performance.
Right now Core2Duo rules the roost performance wise.
If you are buying a new PC from a shop there is more to consider than the ancient AMD Vs Intel question.
OT/ I see PC Worlds new add has this line "With the new Intel Core2Duo you can play music and browse the internet at the same time"Something like that anyway!

Hhahha, yeah...

I hate marketing like that, what a load of crap.

Personally right now I'd go Core2Duo, they pip it on performance.

Intel offer a quad core, the Q6600.

However, there are very few applications that take advantage of the quad core system at the minute, although i cannot speak for 6-12 months time. This means that will 99% of application a £150 dual core chip will actually run faster than a £200 quad core chip, as the speed of the processor is faster in the dual core.

I went for a intel dual core, cost me 50 quid, i got it running at just over 2.ghz.

Could someone clarify what the difference is between core2duo and dual core intel processors.
