Default Intel or AMD - Spring 2009

I'm well aware that the title of processing king keeps swinging between these 2 companies, but for your money today, what would you have? Better yet, would you have a different processor if money was no object? Your thoughts would help me a bit =)...

Intel for me, just better chips imo, even with the added cost.

Default Intel or AMD - Spring 2009

AMD is winning low-end and is competing much better than Intel in high end (X3 720 ties E8400 in single-threaded and smokes it in multithreaded). Intel's not innovating or doing much of anything, so I have to give it to AMD.

Yeah, I'm going to give my vote to AMD as well.

There really trying to get back in to the market, and are doing a damned good job.

I'm due an upgrade soon and must say I do like the sound of the new Phenoms .... better value for money too, which AMD have always been good at.

I agree, from the propaganda that comes with AMD's trailers, the new Dragon technology looks fandabbytastic. Since it's meant to rival the performance of the I7 and be about half the price, I'm thinking of looking into it for my new build..

intel for me, always used them (part from when AMD have been free!), they might cost more, but are worth the money in my opinion

They seriously have everything locked up - low end dual on the 7750+, high end on the X3, quad high end is relatively competitive with the Phenom II and really isn't that big of market. It may shift once i5 comes out but for now the market's looking pretty solid red.

Unfortunately, AMD dropped the ball after their last come to power and they've been slipping ever since.
