IntelBurnTest v1.3
by AgentGOD
----------------------------

Homepage: www.ultimate-filez.com

Description:
Linpack by Intel® is an extremely stressful program that will
put even the most powerful X86/X64 CPU in the world at its knees. Load temp
under Linpack will be up to 22*C higher than the competing software Prime95.
This program will make usage of Linpack easier and more practical.

Benefits of using Linpack:
1. More accurate than Prime95 Small FFTs/Blend.
2. Takes less time to tell if your CPU/RAM is unstable than Prime95 (usually
something like 8 minutes Linpack vs 40 hours under Prime95).
3. Use the same stress-testing engine that Intel uses to test their products
before they are packed and put on shelves for sale.

Benefits of using IntelBurnTest:
1. Simplifies usage of Linpack.
2. Direct output of results to the screen.
3. Simplifies the process of selecting a test size to use.
4. Better appearance.

How to test CPU and RAM stability (summarized):
1. It is best to use a 64-bit OS with the 64-bit mode for the most accurate
test result.
2. Use the most available RAM possible (IntelBurnTest can now do this on
its own automatically). The more memory it uses, the more accurate.
3. Select the run # (should use at least 5).
4. Start running. Output should look something like this (unless if error detection is on*):
Size LDA Align. Time(s) GFlops Residual Residual(norm)
10000 10000 4 15.979 41.7337 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002
10000 10000 4 15.119 44.1087 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002
10000 10000 4 15.216 43.8254 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002
NOTE: Depending on the memory size selected, the testing size will be
different, so the Residual(norm) values will not be the same if you
ran this test each time with different amounts of memory selected.
5. Above indicates that the test ran fine so far without instability, but
below indicates instability (the Residual(norm) values aren't the same
throughout running the test):
Size LDA Align. Time(s) GFlops Residual Residual(norm)
10000 10000 4 15.245 43.7434 1.525878e-005 5.380399e+003
10000 10000 4 15.250 43.7303 2.460366e-010 8.675501e-002
10000 10000 4 15.162 43.9816 1.012665e-010 3.570760e-002
NOTE: Instability doesn't necessarily have to happen at the beginning, it
can happen in the middle, or at the end. It could be just ONE of
them that is inconsistent, but that DOES indicate instability. It is
highly recommended to use the most free memory possible for the most
accurate, and quick test. BSOD or freezing are signs of instability
as well.

* If error detection is on, the program will only output the results at the end of the
run, and give a conclusion about whether or not your PC is stable. If it is off,
you will see similar output as above during the testing.

Supposedly much better as 8 mins of this is the same as 40 hrs of Prime95 and up to 22C hotter!

A repackage of what Intel use to test their CPUs at the factory.

yes but will it be more accurate? as it is more stresfull than normal games and apps it will tell u if your cpu is 100% stable opposed to the 99% you wound probally get normaly. thats my theory anyway but im probally wrong :D

Generally speaking I warn people away from being too paranoid about Prime95 and perfect stability.

If it doesn't crash while you're doing the things you want to do (games, encoding, whatever) there's really no point.

Yea, I'm not to parranoid about it, but I run it for a while, and if it fails in the first couple of mins, I know there is something wrong, however if it lasts for a few hours (I leave it overnight when I think I have a stable clock) I decide it's fine. None of this 12 hours minimum for me, I have other things to do.

I agree with the if it works for what you want then it fine theory but...

I think its quicker to run IBT for 10 mins and know the CPU will survive anything then start up a game, encode a video etc and then have it crash.

lol nice signiture server guy, i was trying to scare the thing off for 5 minutes before i realised :D

i have just thought of a good use for this program, it will be usefull for servers (espessially for overclocked ones) because servers need to run months on end without crashing and they actually do need to be 100% stable.

True, but servers are not normally overclocked. Mission critical ones just run on high dollar hardware with multiple redundancies.

I have found this program to be very helpful when overclocking new builds for clients, because I can test for stability much quicker then before so can reach the best OC faster.

When OCing for someone else, I think it is imperative to have as close to 100% as possible, as you never know how someone else might use the PC.

Yeh of course, but may I ask you don't use it on this forum. Let the bug invade another forum!
