Hi, I want to know which processor is better out of these two
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz
or
Intel i7 1.60GHz

Now I know that the i7 has a lower speed number, but it is also classes as an Intel Quad Core CPU, so with it being more powerful in that way, does that make it the better CPU or do they work out about the same in proformance

The core2duo has 2x (2 lots of) 2.53ghz cores
The i7 has 4x (4 lots of) 1.6ghz cores

It depends what you want it to do really! Aside from that, i'm pretty certain that a core2duo will be miles cheaper, and from what i've seen, theyre pretty good for most things!

An AMD 64 x2 is better value for money though...

Well it is for gaming, and Price is not a issue, I dont even think about the price, I am a speed freak and all my computers need to be really fast. But thanks anyway, I have just found out that the i7 is miles faster, so ill be getting the i7 one.
Thanks

Well, it certainly doesn't help that there is no i7 that runs at 1.6ghz. I think the OP just bought an Atom or something.

I was about to say, the I7 at 1.6GHz would be daft.. Perhaps he meant 2.6 and it was a typo..

Makes no odds though that the gaming chip would be undoubtedly the Core2 chip, 2 cores beats 4 for games!
