Intel processors experts let me ask you a... The Core2 is the 'faster' chip due to it's architecture, its not all about mhz.
Less pipeline stages, and wider data/per clock transfer.
The core duo is basically just 2 pentium M's stuck together, pretty much the same as the p4 8** series is just 2 p4 single core's stuck together. It was never optimised as a dual-core cpu.
