It has been leaked that Intel are working on a Six cored processor (with twelve threads) to join their flagship 1366 socket range.

Although maybe join isn't the right word, they're also dropping the current lineup when they release this thread-monster later this year - around the time the i5 is also launched.

It has also been stated that this new chip won't fall under the "i7" category, so it will be interesting to see how they cope with that in their current marketing nightmare.

I can picture gamers around the world preemptively ripping out their "piece of ****" i7 extreme's, and stamping on them, before marching off to demand a 6Core to test from Intel, because they're the best extremest watercooled no scope gam3r ever.

And they'll get the same frame rate they always did!

I struggle to believe that, can you provide a link?

Jumping from 4 cores straight to 12 just doesn't make sense.

Woah, ok.

Believe you now cheesy

Although all that server talk baffles me, is the chip for desktops too or is it just a server socket?

"PUT TWO OF THESE TOGETHER AND YOU HAVE"

A processor the size of a small building??

Still, my love of cores is none ending. Can we get the new Not-I7 6 core 12 threaded thing on a skulltrail? That to me is 12 cores and a pretty heffing good 24 threads..

As Carbon says, your fps will be forced to completely.. stay exactly the same. Ain't life grand.
