I know what you mean by that of course, but I don't see the future as indefinitely increasing number of cores, it my carry on for a bit - but it's sure not the be all end all.

I read somewhere that "Quantum" computing is the next big thing, but I couldn't get my head round it, I didn't think the writer could either

Class it as witchcraft then move on haha.

Quantum computers sound technical and we'll be running Crysis like notepad haha.

From what I gather, it removes the "Bits" current computers use and use "Qubits" or Quantum Bits. This is then put through a quantum computer using algorithms rather than basic addition thus creating an seemingly infinite amount of possibilities and answers.

A bite represents a 1 or a 0. There are no middle bits, a qubit is more like a sphere, it has its own properties and more uses because of that.

I think it's along them there lines haha

Oh I see, so are thy basically on about computers moving away from base 2 (binary, 1 / 0) and into a higher base?

4, one would presume from quantum?

I don't know, sounds interesting, but a fair way off yet.

We might not be moving from binary to a higher base, perhaps something far beyond binary or even denary. Since a photon doesn't have a determined set of attributes, it can be used in more than one way, there are an almost infinite number of ways you can hold a sphere and the principal is the same.
