Hey, As in title I had problems with my new build due to my ram being ECC and my mobo not supporting it.

So I now need an 8GB kit that's DDR2 and NON-ECC

A combination I can't seem to find, is there a reason for this, ie. are all 4GB sticks ECC?

Thanks, Ollie.

The majority (90%+) of retail DDR2 RAM isn't ECC. I'm surprised you can't find any non - are the websites you're buying from specifically saying it is?

Misco is where I bought everything and they only seem to have 1 8GB kit, which is what I wrongly bought as it's Non-ECC

I also tried Google shopping but couldn't find it. Trouble is I don't want to spend too much more than £100 either.. The one I currently have was £110

Feel free to check Misco, in case I missed something obvious...

But I couldn't find it anywhere.

Actually I don't think your have much choice on the speed, 8GB 2x4 kits seem rare.

Says unbuffered which I believe mean non-ecc.

Cockit, out of stock :(

Yeah I'm not having much luck finding what I want...

I think I may be forced to go with a faster 4GB kit thats cheaper anyway something like PNY 4GB XLR8 DDR2

Or possibly just 1 quite fast 4GB stick.. If I did that would it allow me to buy exactly the same type from the same vendor in the future and run it in dual channel operation?

Or for this do they absolutly have to be bought together as a kit?

They do not need to be in a kit, you can get one now and one later or two singles now. Thing is I dont think single 4GB are popular either, so you can't win. Try to get the same brand either way and get the same speed. I personally would go for something other than PNY. Why not just settle on a 4GB kit, if 8GB non-ecc kits are rare now it's unlikely to change.

Ah, that could work, I looked at that before but it didn't say anything about ECC so I left it alone (I didn't realise unbuffered and non-ECC were the same)

I'll probably go for that then, they may well be back in stock by the time I get my current fiasco refunded.

Thanks for the help, Ollie.

Oh ok, PNY not that good? It just looked snazzy the black and gold

I'll probably go for the OCZ you linked to.

Thanks again.
