Default Memory Upgrade Help On An Older PC....

I Need some advice if possible to upgrade the memory on a friends old computer, I have not seen the computer, but the info he's given me is very accurate he assures me. Not my strong point messing around inside the box, so help would be most appreiciated.

The Spec.

AMD64 Athlon 64 3200+

MSI

MSI-6741 1.0

Chipset VIA - K8T800 (VT8383) REV. 01

Running 1GB DDR Memory at the moment, & he wants to upgrade to 2GB.

I Found this info on MSI Site (Link Below) for his Motherboard:

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p...-ILSR&class=mb

I found this product at a local Computer Superstore...

PNY / 1GB PC3200 / DDR DIMM MEMORY / 1GB Memory Module DDR DIMM for Desktops / 400MHz Bus Clock Rate
/ 184 pin Configuration / Non-ECC

Would it be safe to put in two of these to upgrade the memory to 2GB without causing a problem????

You only need to buy 1x 1Gb stick of Ram.

Chances are you have two slots, so one spare slot.

Go here http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx and find out what type of Ram you currently have, click scan my system.

Then buy 1x 1GB of the same type and speed you already have so they are matched.

Buy online from somewhere like www.ebuyer.com and 1Gb of decent branded Ram will set you back around £20.
