| Same size, same speed, but different branded ram modules, would putting these into a system affect performance or reliability in anyway? I have a few 256mb sticks but to save getting some a new set of 1gb or 2gb kits, as these are quite expensive, being DDR ram, would putting mixed brands together work fine? I know different sizes may have issues, and different speeds too, as it will always run at the slowest used speed, but what about brands?

| I wouldn't worry too much if the speeds are the same.

| Cool, didn't think it would make much of a difference. What are your thoughts on using 2x256mb matched pair alongside a single stick of 512mb? Again, same speed, but different brands?

| Actually, forget that as I have read in the motherboard manual it doesn't support 3 memory modules. In this case, just a question regarding dual channel. If I use 2x256mb sticks alongside 2x512mb sticks, would each kit run in two seperate dual channel modes? Or would it switch to single channel as the four sticks aren't identical?

| I'm pretty sure it will run in dual channel. It's only when you run odd numbers you get issues with that. |
