Default MOBO, CPU opinions please

OK, looking to purcahse a new MOBO and CPU, this was my thoughts on a MOBO:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...id=946&mfrid=1

Probably the Extreme or Formula SE, thoughts ar alternatives please ?

CPU wise, i was looking at the Intel Core 2 Quad, although a friend who is AMD biased, said wait for the new AMD Quad cores as they will be better, i do not really prefer one over the other, all im interested in is which performs better.

I have a new 8800 GT G-card, need MOBO,CPU & RAM to generally complete system upgrade after 3 years.

Advice much appreciated thank you

The AMD quad cores are not better they only have 2MB cache. Where the intel has 8MB

For your CPU i would suggest the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB), i game "click my name and you can read my spec"

The place you linked to for your Motherboard has the Q6600 on offer this week
