As far as the sensor test? It should have told you if one of your sensors wasn't working. But since you reseated your cpu fan it seems the "off' one shifted and since you didn't get a message saying one of your sensors was broken (or all of them lol0 I would say you are fine there.

I am NOT an expert so I hesitate to either say that those temps are normal (they look ok to me, but not as good as I have seen others report) or to recommend a CPU cooler. Carbon is the expert lol. He says in his computer parts guide: "Xigmatek HDT-S1283. Less than $50, one of the best if not the best coolers. AC7 Pro is good too, but this is better. Get it!" I would listen to him.

I can't get the Xigmatek here in Canada. Tigerdirect, not Canadacomputers sell them. I'd have to go looking for it which will be very time consuming for me.
That's why i was wondering which one at Canadacomputers was good.
Tigerdirect canada has the OCZ Vandetta. How is that one?? It's about $50. I already spent a lot on the system, i don't want to go overboard with this, even though i know it's really important.

Thanks for all the help guys, u really rock!

You can't get the other one that he (as well as thingie) recommends? The AC7 Pro? I went to a local retailer, Fry's and they didn't carry Xigmatek either.

Did you try http://www.newegg.ca ?

EDIT: Nevermind, I tried it for you lol. Look here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003&Tpk=Xigmatek HDT-S1283

Thanks a lot bro.
I'll have to order it.
But before i do that, i'll have to measure my case, make sure it actually fits...

Also seems like it doesn't come put together, is that tough to do???

Hmmmmmm, what kind of case do you have? As far as putting it together? You built your computer didn't you? I can't speak for that particular cooler, but the one I bought necessitated taking it (my computer) all apart and putting it back together as there was a mounting bracket that goes under the motherboard.

While it was a pain in the ass on one hand, it was cool on the other. This was my first build so I used the "rebuild" as an opportunity to rout my cables better and so on. Also since I had put everything in there, taking it out and putting it back was much easier.

Yea, I linked to the xigmatek on newegg.ca way back in my previous post... Also, how exactly was the HSF not seated properly?

The temperatures you are getting now (assuming are under normal load rather than idle) are on temperatures, however I still recommend the Xigmatek cooler, as it should get those temps down even further, and will cool the CPU whilst remaining alot quieter.

The HSF has 4 pins of which 2 were properly clicked in and 2 were not. So it wasn't tightly fixed on top of the CPU.

And i didn't put it all together myself, my brother helped me. So that's why i was asking how complicated it was. If i order the one online, it'll take a couple of days for it to get here... i was very interested in just going and picking one up since it'd be quicker.... ahh decisions decisions!

And after a bit of usage, seems like the temperature is going back up. Now Real Temp measured core 3 and 4 at 102 degrees max. Core 2 seems to be running the coolest out of the bunch. Core 1, 3 and 4 seems to all run at about the same temperature while Core 2 runs about 5-8 degrees cooler. Any reason for that??

If Realtemp is showing 102C you need to shut down immediately. There is definitely something wrong and continued usage of the processor may easily kill it. Tmax for that processor is around 75C.

My best guess is you need to reapply the thermal paste.

well actually it's cores 0,1,2,3 lol if you are using Real Temp 2.70............

You are 5-8 degree cooler on one core than the others and you don't get a window saying that while differences of 2 degrees is normal, one or more of your sensors isn't working?

102 is WAY high. What are you running when you get that temp? Just to verify, you DID say that the temps a celsius correct?

Damn Carbon we posted at the same time. My question to you is:

His processor comes with Thermtrip. Shouldn't that throttle it back before the temps get so high? Also, if he built it with his brother, is it possible that his brother overclocked the piss out of it and did so incorrectly? those temps are just way too high.
