Also, have you tried checking the temps with a different program too? just to make sure there isn't an error with real temp?

Also, if you decide to go to a shop to buy the cooler, and they don't have the xigmatek, go for the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro. It's not quite as good, but it still a very good, but still cheap, cooler.

That's also a possibility. When you boot the PC up, hit del and go into the bios, in one of the options it should say the CPU clock speed, and the Voltage it is running at, can you post them here? Don't worry if you think you change anything in the BIOS, aslong as when you leave you say don't save, you won't mess anything up.

It's very possible. The processor should shut off if it gets that high, so there might be something wrong with the thermal diode as well.

The BIOS is going to end this dilemma one way or another.

Alright, so i checked out the things u guys asked me to look at....
My brother did not overdclock it. He's against overclocking things mainly because of the heat aspect.

So this is what i found in the BIOS.
The CPU temp 60 degrees C.
CPU Freq = 2833.3
CPU Multiplier = 8X

CPU Core = 1.19v
CPU FSB = 1.1v
Memory = 1.850v
nForce SPP = 1.3v
nForce MCP = 1.5v
HT nForce SPP <-> MCP = 1.2v

I have been using 2 programs. Real Temp 2.7 and Speed Fan 4.35.
Speed Fan gives me other temperatures too...such as System temperature, Aux temp (whatever that is).

According to that also, everything is hot.
System runs ideal at 65 degress C.
CPU runs are 48 degrees C when i first start the PC, but doesn't stay there for long, it goes up as soon as i start using the system. It's also deciving because the CPU shows 48 degrees C, but all the cores show up as 58/58/58/52 degrees C.

Man who knew this would be such an issue!!!

One last program - try Intel Thermal Analysis Tool and see if that gives anything different.

These temps are more in line with what should be OK, but let's get a third opinion.

Intel Thermal Analysis Tool doesn't recognize my CPU. Says, "Invalid CPU"

Okay, so i need some help with properly configuring Real Temp.
The "Set TJ Max" were all set to 95. And then one of the previous posts stated that the TJ Max for the Q9550 was 75. So i changed the TJ Max to 75.

Now Real Temp 2.7 is showing these....
34/27/33/33

Does that make sense??? Or am i missing something???

You mean when you lowered the TJ Max, the temperatures also dropped? I'm sure that isn't meant to happen, but I suppose it depends how the program works, if it compares the voltage across the temperature diode, the placers could be moved (for example, lets say the voltage can be between 0-10V, if 0V is 0C, and 10V is TJ Max, lets say, the scale will be lowered, if the 10V changes from 95C to 75C) I dunno if this is how it works, but it sort of makes sense (to me anyway, I don't know how well I explained it) that it could be possible.

yeah, i'm not sure how all this really works. I've been scratching my head with it. My brand spankin new computer and i was stressing over heat all this time. Now it's maintaining temp in the 30s for all the cores.

Max since the adjustment has been 63/60/75/79.
Min since the adjustment has been 33/26/32/32.

Ahhh, i can't figure this out at all.

Speed Fan still continues to give me the temperature in the high 50s, low 60s for the cores.

What is going on?!?!?!?!?!?
