Alex kindly recommended an asus p5b to me, I've decided to go with an E6700 processor but there are rather a lot of asus mobo's! I have a budget of around 100 quid for me mobo, any specific recommendations would be greatly appreciated!. Overclocking is a must but I assume from what I've read nearly all asus mobo's have excellent facilities for this. All I would like is the best I can get for me hard earned!

Anything specific spring to mind?

Many Thanks,

Keith.

Asus P5B Dlx-non wifi.

Has a built in over-clock facility that dynamically up's the fsb dependent on cpu/ram need and load.

Looking at the ram, northbridge, southbridge, pci-e and cpu voltages attainable on the board its rather a nifty proposition for the buy.

can pick these up for the money you've quoted if you shop around.

Or there's the Abit AB9, decent price, decent voltages again, but looking at the board its got rather a weird layout. Pretty much the same cost as the Asus.

These would be on my shortlist.

Just noticed you got there before me with the AB9 Cyberbabe.

Still, we can't both be wrong.

There you go Carpious, two for the price of one.

Yo carpious :D

The Motherboard alex has suggested to you is the best board so far, i will be building again soon and the Asus P5B will be on my list of components to research (sorry Cyberbabe the Gigabyte GA_965P is not a brilliant board, my Dad and older brother are dedicated builders and Gigabyte are not well rated with many builders)

The cheapest i could find the Asus P5B for is £66.92 Inc VAT

Asus P5B Skt 775 Intel P965 Here

Oh no! I had earmarked the Gigabyte board for a possible future build. Should I go for the Asus instead?

Yup, any of the P5B's, whether Deluxe wifi, Deluxe, or the 'plain' P5B. Awesome boards all.

Wow, Thanks for all the replies guys!! Most helpfull. Motherboard sotred then! As I said I had decided on the e6700 but while browsing for the best deal I came across the q6600, It's only another 130 quid for this compared to the e6700. Would this be a better investment of my money or would the difference be negligble? Also will my 450w power unit be up to the job?

Cheers,

Keith.

My mistake it's only 400w. It's the one that came with the case. It says on it:

Agency Sales LTD
Switching Power Supply
Model- LC-B40ATX
