It's either a hot motherboard, a bad CPU, or bad RAM.

CPU would explain freezing but not the "won't show anything" issue - these seem to be mutually exclusive. My question here is this: do you get any video at all?

ok major progress
i have 4 slots on the motherboard
if i have 2/1 gig of ram where should i have the ram ?
slot 1 slot 2 slot 3 or slot 4 ?
at the moment i have one in slot 2 and its working fine however when i try the other ram stick in any slot i get the freezing ect, and the stick im using wont work in slot one when on its own ?
i hope that made sense

They should be in the same color coded (on most motherboards) slot for dual-channel. Usually that's 1/3 and 2/4.
