Default Need help to solve the problem

hi there everyone.. yesterday i tried to add on another ram to my cpu and i did not notice tht the ram is of diff size and manage to fit it in. when i on the cpu there was a long beep sound. after which i quickly off my cpu as i know i didnt fit it right. after tht i put in back my old ram and it was properly fitted. At the same time i can smell the burnt smell from the cpu. after awhile after fitting in the old ram i on the cpu and it turns on. i can still open and close my cd rom drive but it cant seem to power up my lcd screen n do not have any sound of it starting up till windows. can any bros give me any suggestion ? but everything seems to run perfectly. anyone here pls advise.

If you could smell burning, its possibly the motherboard saying "GOODBYE" the beep (s) you heard were a warning most possibly that the memory was incorrect, you say you managed to fit it in as if you used a hammer.

Motherboards can support diff sized memory but there are limits and some dont support it,usually theyshould be running the same bus speed such as 133mhz.

Sounds like you fried the PC

Depends on how good a MB you get. If you go with an exact match to your old one if it is still available then you wont's have to ring up Microsoft and get them to revalidate your OS.

it can still be start up in safe mode.. well mine is a 2.53ghz. how to find in mb ?

2.53Ghz is the clock speed of your processor, if you can get it into the BIOS it should tell the mobo model in there.
