Default Need major RAM help!

Hi. New here. Read a lot of posts. Looks like some good advice, hope you can help me. Here's the sitch.

Mobo: Microstar MS-6390 (2 DDR RAM slots)
Original RAM: elixir 256 MB DDR 266 MHz PC2100
New RAM: 2 Kingston 1GB DDR 333 MHz PC2700
OS: Windows 2000

Here's the problem: I took out the old stick and put in 1 of the new sticks and it wouldn't post. I put the old stick back in with the new one nd it works fine. Says I have the correct amount of RAM in my system window. When I take out the old stick and try to have both new sticks the computer won't post. Tried all slot configs. I really want to have 2GB of RAM running at the same speed as this is the best way to do things, from what I've read here. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanx.

Quite simply, the new RAM is incompatible. You need DDR 266 MHz PC2100, nothing else will work

So you need to return those new sticks and buy some with the sames specs as the old (save for capacity)

The kingston part number is KVR266X64C25/1G for a 1GB stick.

But it does work with 1 of the new ones and the old one. My system says I have 1.2 GB of RAM. Also the specs for my motherboard say it supports the new RAM.
