doesn't it find the newly added ram or just the sum of the old and new ram is shown not as it should be?

A bit more info would help.

How much RAM do you have?

Where is it displaying that you have less than expected?

ah yes, windows might do that.I'm not too sure why, think it might be to do with some of it reserved for something.

download cpu-z and that will display what ram you have. :)

Also, i just checked mine through windows, I have two 512mb sticks but windows say I have 0.99Gb

It's because your on-board graphics card is stealing 128MB of RAM.

You can free up the pinched RAM and get better performance on top by buying a dedicated graphics card.
