| hi all again starting new build after iv finished building my case for all the bits![]() wil post soon when complete ![]() at the min im runing 2 GHZ and i really want to try and get 4 GHZ on this build without getting too expensive this is what iv found up2 now is these components overclock'abble to 4ghz? or maybe a better suggestion around the same sort of price ? ![]() the hole thing will be watercooled but i would still like 4ghz if possabble with still reliability i will be runing xp pro sp3 and be doing gaming internet music and so on to be onist i just want 4 ghz ![]() ![]() http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...%20Motherboard http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CP-195-AM

| I would have thought an E8400 / P45 setup would have been far better. Should get you to 4Ghz pretty easily.

| that CPU won't overclock at all AMD processors are already near their limit E7200 and P45 would be best, cheapest bet

| The new E8600 will go to 4Ghz on air although it's expensive. Would save on water cooling though.

| hmmmm... Overclocking to 4GHz with stability might be a tall order. Overclocking is not my forte though so go with the other opinions. Assuming you had the budget (As in Bill Gates budget lol jk) Id say get a Cell based system, not great at running windows though.. They come standard at 4GHz and therefore dont need overclocking and its a lot faster than the normal single, double or quad processor. Downside is your looking at running Linux instead of windows more than likely. This is a bit daft though, wouldnt recommend |

| All the 45nm Duos will go to 4ghz and above eventually. It may take a couple voltage tweaks but not much, mostly it's FSB.

| i have been looking at dual processor motherboards iv seen a socket a dual processor motherboard amd xp 2600+ they run at 2ghz so that would be 4 ghz with the 2 processors on the motherboard.. its cheap too would i have eney problems runing xp on a dua motherboard? there server boards arnt they?

| you have vastly misplaced priorities. you can't add clock speeds, you will get zero use out of the other processor, and you can't do dual 2600s.

| Yea, Like carbon said, you don't add the clock speeds, basicly it's making a duel core prossesor out of 2 single core ones. You won't get much perfornace increase from it (similar ratios to Xfire/SLI probably) as i'm not sure XP has proper drivers for duel CPU (because the OS isn't a server OS)
