my system seems to be running fine with winxp home after new motherboard, and processor upgrade. I know the version now is 12.06 on this particular board from driver disc and I saw an update which was 14. I know they always say, if things are working fine not to. what would you do? Thanks.

I agree with "them" - not worth a dead motherboard if everything's working as-is.

You flash the BIOS when you want to run new hardware that is supported with an update, like faster RAM or CPU. Dead mobo's are common so only do it if it is essential.

Hi Dave, this board is suppose to support up to 1066mhz ram according to the manual so, I thought I might order some to try later on. do you think I will have to update in order to run it? Thanks!

If it says on the box and manual that it is supported than an update wont be needed. When I said people flash the BIOS to run newer hardware I meant like 1-2-3 years down the line from buying it.
