I have just got 2x 1GB RAM to upgrade my Acer Aspire L3600, as it only had 2x 512MB included. I know that it can only be upgraded to 2GB total, but when I installed it yesterday the computer would not power up, and beep twice (quite quiet beeps) then switched off again.

Why would it be doing this? The RAM is compatible with this computer as I enquired before I purchased but it should install no problems

try taking them back and trying some new ones still nothing try a different brand of memory also remember to earth yourself first before handling ram as static can damage ram easily .thats also why some shops wont refund or give you replacements also try putting back in your old memory to see if everything still works to rule out any other problems that might of happened since the swop over

You didn't mention what RAM you purchased ... it should be DDR2 PC2-5300 ... if that's what it is and the 2 beeps are short, then it does sound like a bad stick.

Yes sorry it is DDR2 PC2-5300, and is now a faulty module. Tried both new ones and one works but the other doesnt. Tried them together and on their own aswell so will send the faulty module back
