Hiya. I recently bought the rest of my parts of my computer. I am not getting a graphics card for months (tho it will be the 8800gtx). So i have been checking out some videos on this card but when i look at there comments, 90% of the people have a quad core. im happy with my core 2 duo 2.67ghz but how much of a difference would a quad core make in-game?

what games are we talking?

some games need more core power than others.

supreme commanders for example

as far as i know most games are optimized for dual core processors but very few new ones use all 4 quads
so a dual core should be adequate

if the game is new the programers probably implemented the older version in multiple threads, so multiple threads runs on CPU, every thread runs on a different core from the same cpu. So, that's why quad core runs better than core 2 duo in some games, but a little older games that had a single thread are running better on a pentium d tham on a core 2 duo (offcourse, if the pentium D runs at a higher frequency than the core 2 duo (has more Ghz)). You can also google for some benchmarks results on your games to see the FPS from quad and core 2 while using the same GPU. In my opinion, the quad-core runs better on newer games. So if you are a gamer ... quad core is the answer.
