I recently started building my 2nd custom computer and I have a SATA HD so thats not the problem I just noticed my Dvd-burner Drive Requires a 40-pin IDE cable...like normal but then i notice there is not 40-pin IDE Connector on my motherboard what should i do? Ive seen some IDE Adapters for 40-pin but all I see is for Hard Drives will they work for dvd burners? or some thing else please let me know what you think?

I think telling us what model motherboard would be a good start.

If there is definitely no IDE socket on the mobo, dont mess about with adaptors on a new build ... just grab a SATA DVD Burner, they are so cheap now (probably not much more than an adaptor) and a much better solution.

yes they work fine but are sata 1 only, mine is a vantec and never had a problem.i hate not using something that works fine.just be sure it's ide device to sata host adapter and not the other way around{better yet get a bi directional}
