Hello all,
I am building a new system for strictly gaming on a very tight budget. I'm combining a 6400+ windsor, 8600gt, and 2 gigs of ddr2800 mhz ram with this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130065 Now I know that this board is labeled as a more business/server board, but it seems to have everything I need. It offers 1000mhz fsb (despite what newegg says) has a pcie 16x slot for my card and can support the memory I have. Now what I wonder is will the northbridge chipset slow anything down? I have no experience with the quadro chipset, but from what I see as long as I disable the onboard video I should be fine in terms of performance. Does the northbridge chipset really make a difference in computer performance? I mean would I see a difference in this quadro chipset compared to lets say an nvidia 700 series chipset? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

Do you mean the E6400 or the "AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400" (god I hate their nomenclature)?

It's a decent board but there are better alternatives for only a little bit more. I don't care for micro-ATX boards (heat issues), and 4 SATA is not fun if you're planning to expand it quite a bit. You won't be able to overclock it (at least well: read the reviews). It's great if you're building a small machine (micro-ATX, native dual-monitor support), but if you want to go gaming I would look elsewhere. My System: 日夏子
