Got bored and thought Id stress my CPU for a laugh..

But then I realised I had no idea what I was doing and got scared I was going to break something, so I stopped it.

These are my results but I have no idea how good that is, and as I say I stopped it short anyway.

1GB RAM, 2GhZ I think...

Last bit of Core 1:

Completed 40000 iterations without errors (490.00 GFLOP)
Completed 41000 iterations without errors (502.25 GFLOP)
Completed 42000 iterations without errors (514.50 GFLOP)
Completed 43000 iterations without errors (526.75 GFLOP)
Completed 44000 iterations without errors (539.00 GFLOP)
Completed 45000 iterations without errors (551.25 GFLOP)
Completed 46000 iterations without errors (563.50 GFLOP)
Completed 47000 iterations without errors (575.75 GFLOP)
Completed 48000 iterations without errors (588.00 GFLOP)
Completed 49000 iterations without errors (600.25 GFLOP)
Completed 50000 iterations without errors (612.50 GFLOP)
No problems detected in 50230 iterations, bye!
StressCPU ran 4 minutes 10 seconds.
Execution halted.

Last bit of Core 2:

Completed 40000 iterations without errors (490.00 GFLOP)

Completed 42000 iterations without errors (514.50 GFLOP)
Completed 43000 iterations without errors (526.75 GFLOP)
Completed 44000 iterations without errors (539.00 GFLOP)
Completed 45000 iterations without errors (551.25 GFLOP)

Completed 47000 iterations without errors (575.75 GFLOP)
Completed 48000 iterations without errors (588.00 GFLOP)
No problems detected in 48061 iterations, bye!

That just means your CPU is stable running at 100% for 4 mins. It shouldn't break anything as it automaticly stops if it finds any errors. It's mainly just used for overclockers as it allows a way to keep the CPU at 100% usage for as long as need to check the CPU is stable.

Oh ok.. thanks, I'm considering trying to O/C slightly along with new CPU (deciding which) so I'll keep it just in case

Well if your getting a new CPU to OC, I advise an Intel one, from what I have read they over clock a lot better.

I would recommend the Q6600 from Intel. O/C able to the power of the more expensive Intel quad cores I believe very easily! Just with a good cooler.

Thanks for advice, I meant I would either O/C my current one, or get a new stock clock one, but i spose if I buy a new one I might as well get the best out of it..

Thanks agin, I'll look into it.
