Hey up.

It's highly unlikely you're going to overheat an old P1 MMX. They're nothing like the central-heating CPUs of current standards..

You can potentially up the multiplier and the vcore and FSB, but it's going to depend on your ram as well and what FSB choices you have.
The default voltage for a P1 (if memory serves) is 2.8v. Most P1's will run at 200MHz without a problem, & many will run at 233Mhz. But if you expect to see a significant difference in performance, you'll need to run at the highest FSB possible. 2 x 100 is faster than 3 x 66 for instance, albeit only slightly.

Still, regardless of the above, you're not going to be able to run Supreme Commander and this has as much to do with your cpu as your graphics solution.

I once tried to overclock my p1 without MMX for testing purposes once or twice I did take it to about 300mhz. But the jod didnt last much as it screwd up my motherboard and all I could see was my SMPS on flames.
